Split is a client-side web application designed to help you split expenses with friends. Your privacy is important to us, and this policy explains how your data is handled.
All data you enter into Split — including events, members, expenses, and settlement records — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage. No data is transmitted to or stored on any external server.
When you use the "Share" feature, your event data is encoded into a URL. Anyone who receives this URL can view and import the shared event. Please share links only with people you trust.
Split uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns and Google AdSense to display advertisements. These services may set cookies and collect anonymized data such as your IP address, device type, and browsing behavior on this site. Google may use this data to personalize ads. You can learn more at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads and opt out of personalized ads at https://www.google.com/settings/ads. Your event data (members, expenses, settlements) is never shared with these services.
You can delete your data at any time by removing events within the app or by clearing your browser's local storage. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, please reach out through the project's repository.
